Unable to export extremely large projects from Revit
In some cases, Revit is unable to export extremely large projects. This is usually a hardware limitation of the computer being used to export the VIM file.
For very large projects, your computer should have 32 GB, 64 GB, or possibly more RAM, depending on the size of the project. To accelerate the reading and writing of large files, your computer should also have a local M2 or SSD drive with adequate space for large amounts of data. When exporting very large projects, Revit can create over 300 GB of temporary data.
If you are still unable to export large Revit files, please send us the log files from the VIM for Revit plugin (see Application Log Files), along with your computer specifications in the following format:
- Processor: i7-8750H
- Hard Drive: M.2 1TB
- Graphic Card: RTX 2080
- RAM: 64GB
In some cases you might need to provide the Revit model so that we can replicate the issue. If you have permission, you can send us these models by using OneDrive, WeTransfer.com or any other file sharing service that is approved by your IT department.
